We left Kansas this morning and are riding into Missouri.

We use Microsoft Picture It software program to add the wheels.

We went to the laundromat yesterday, and took time to look at our quarters.  We did NOT know about all the symbols!  We found a good website though, and are learning.

We were interested to hear about your living museum.  Amelia Earhart is an Aviation Pioneer!  She was born in Kansas.  Our symbols on our Ohio quarter honor the Wright Brothers who were the inventors of the airplane and our astronauts Neil Armstrong and John Glenn who were born in Ohio.

We have a list of things to bring:  one large duffle bag,  one small dufflebag or backpack., a sleeping bag, a pillow, a bike, helmet, and bike shoes and some money.  Our vans carry lots of other equipment like spare tires and parts.

We do not stay in hotels very often.  Most nights we stay in community centers or schools.  On the night we were to stay in White City, we stayed in the high school gym.  We bring our bikes in to keep them safe.

We did not see any Monarch butterflies when we went through the Monarch Pass because it was only 40 degrees.   They have gone south for winter and will come back in summer.

We plan our stops.  If anyone needs to stop riding, then they put their bikes on the van and ride in the van.  We are drinking water, eating and putting on sunscreen.
We have a schedule.  We had a date and time we needed to be at your school.  We have a schedule each and every day.  If we need to, we load the bikes on the vans and drive to our destination.  We had to do that 2 days because of bad weather.  We are in Missouri.  We colored our route.

Thank you for sharing all your information about your class projects.  We can imagine how artistic your golden masks are.  We are still counting how many flats we have had and we will let you know.  So far, our largest number for one day was 35!  Happy Birthday.  We have celebrated a few birthdays too.  Have fun learning.  We are riding..and learning each and every day.

Your friends,
The Ride for World Health Team

  1. Stephanie says, "I was Amelia Earhart in the Living Museum!" Jake says, "I was Jim Thorpe for our Living Museum." Jolene asks, "Who is the oldest rider in your group?" Elise says, "The whole class is now learning about shops and markets!" Timothy asks, " How much money do you have right now?" (We are learning about earning, saving, and spending money so when you said you did not stay in hotels, it brought forth a great discussion connecting with our "needs" and "wants" lesson.) Krystal says, " Today I won a raffle and all my friends were cheering for me so LOUD!" Jesus says, "I was cheering for Krystal!" William asks, "How many miles did it take you so far?" Benjamin says, "It is almost my birthday day. Have a good ride!" Mia asks, "Does everyone have a good luck charm?" Jacob asks, "Who keeps track of the flats?" Joshua wants to know how many tires you have left? Prianna asks, "What day of the week are you going to be in Washington, D.C.?" Kirsten wants to know all of your names. Tyler and Adarah say, "Good job!" Sarah says, "Have a good day!" Jordan wishes you, "Good luck on your journey and tell us if your ride was great." HAPPY TRAVELS! WE ARE AMAZED WHEN WE LOOK ON THE MAP OF THE U.S. AND SEE WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED! INCREDIBLE!!
